Creating a script to execute programs

Hi

I am kind of new to Tkinter and Python.
I am using the Windows version of everything.
But i wanted to make a script that would display buttons, without the Command prompt.
And when i press the buttons i want them to be able to execute a program on my pc.
I have my whole desktop full of icons with programs, i want to get rid of them and make a nice little grid with everything in it.

Can someone help me with this ?
i already have the code for making buttons, but i do now know how to make them execute a program.
