Every so often, I get the urge to look at the Mandelbrot fractal, so I rewrite the program and then I remember why I deleted the program.

Writing the program is more fun than exploring the image. Its just spirals everywhere.

Can someone recommend interesting coodinates to view?

Here's what I ended up doing. A program picks a random point in the plane, until it finds a pixel that is in the Mandelbrot set, and the adjacent pixel is not. (I assume the edges are where the interesting shapes are located.)

I centre on the random point, manually fiddle with the magnification and palette, and voila, a random image for the day.

Now that's what I call art.
