Minimum Cost Path?

Hi ther.. im coding an textursynthesizing program and i have to do an search
for an minimum cost path trough an error-array.. is there a easy way to
implement this or so i have to code the function by myself?
i only need an vertical search through the array.. so the result should be
something like this:

xx-xx
x-xxx
xx-xx
xxx-x
xxx-x
xx-xx

input: image/array(dimensions are known) and startpoint for search..
output array or list with path.. so i can follow this path..
