How do you execute a .py in Linux with KDE? If I double click on my
program it opens Kwrite, for editing.

Make it executable (properties, permissions, executable). Make sure it
has #!/usr/bin/python as the first line.

Try inserting this as the first line of the file:

#!/usr/bin/env python
