Trouble installing Matplotlib on windows

Hi,

I am trying to install Matplotlib on my windows machine. I have ActivePython 2.4.3 Build 12 (ActiveState Software Inc.) based on Python 2.4.3 (#69, Apr 11 2006, 15:32:42) [MSC v.1310 32 bit (Intel)] on win32.

When I try to install matplotlib-0.87.6, it gives me an error message "Python version 2.3 required, which was not found in the registry".
Any idea about resolving this issue....!!!
