Hello,
I am researching different ways on how to create a client-side web
application and am fairly new to the area of client-side development.
My previous experiences have been through Perl. The application I
want to write will have several GUI elements and will interact with
some databases. I also need the application's source code to not be
accessible to the end-user. I don't know if that is or is not an
inherent property to the technology.
I've found information about Macromedia Flash, Java Applets, and Java
Web Start. It looks like I may want to go with Flash. However, with
the new MS operating system, Longhorn, I've read that Flash may become
obsolete because MS is coming out with its own Flash-like toolset.
What client-side technology would you recommend?
Are there disadvantages I should be aware of?
I apologize if this is not the correct group to post.
Thanks,
waishan
