accessing Serial ports in C/C++

R

rookie

Hi all,
I am beginner to the world of programming. I need some help.
I want to read or write on a serial port.

As in c everything seems to be like a file we can open a file by fopen
and close a file bt fclose.

Is there any facility in c++ that i can open and close using a library
function.

The C standard library is part of C++, anything else is platform
specific, so off topic here.
