bug? Datagrid column template type 'pushbutton'

I am trying to get a button column template in a datagrid to work with type 'pushbutton' but it does not fire the itemcommand event. If I change it to type 'linkbutton' it fires the itemcommand event just fine and passes the appropirate datagrideventargs object with appropriate commandname properties, etc. (I should mention that the datagrid is part of a web form converted to a control - although I'm not sure this aspect is having any effect as the 'linkbutton' type works fine). I can use the 'linkbutton' type but would prefer a 'pushbutton' type if I can get it to work.

Has anyone used a 'pushbutton' type of datagrid column template successfullty?
