CheckboxList does not save state when disabled?

Hello,

I'd like to know if this is "working as intended" or if this is a bug. When
I disable a CheckboxList, then it does not save which checkboxes were
selected in the viewstate. So when there is a post back the checked boxes
loose it's selected state. I don't use databinding. I've set the state in
the first page load.
