debug jvm version

I guess this is a 2 part question:
A solution to either one would be good (preferably #1)
OS: linux

1) Does anyone have jvm of version
1.4.0_03 or greater on linux that is compiled with
the -g debug flag.

I need to get a stack trace of a core dump file.

2) I did try to compile my own version but am getting stuck in the build
process with a bunch of undefined references.
