Distutils error

Trying to code a speech interface to ChatGPT, have tried on two different computers and getting the same error on both, I assumed distutils was installed when Python was installed.

from distutils.version import LooseVersion
ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'distutils'

any help would be appreciated
