Form Collection

I have a dynamic search form that may or may not have fields with the same
name. on my results page I loop through all the fields in the collection no
problem but I was wondering if there is another way of detecting a field
that has a collection with the same name, by more than just the comma
delimiter I receive in the value string? I can not solely go by just the
comma because I may have money fields or address fields or something where a
comma is excepted.
