Is argv writebale?

Supposed the ith actual argument argv has length n. Am I allowed to
write any string of length <=n to argv ?

There was just a recent dsicussion of this here. Use Google to read it.

Could you provide a google link for it then? Other than this thread,
which has been going on since May 20, I don't seem to find anything.

A second copy of Alexander's original posting showed up today (albeit
still dated on the 20th) with a different message/thread ID. That's
what I was replying to though I didn't realize it was the same posting
as what started the other thread.

Ah, I see. I think it was actually posted twice originally, I'm not sure
why it's just now showing up at your server, but them's the breaks of
usenet sometimes.
