FUNCTION:
An Applications Consulting Engineer provides customers with hands-on
project consultancy and technical support services relating to Java 2
Micro Edition (J2ME) applications development for wireless handsets
running the Platform. He/she is responsible for assisting customers
on-site and remotely with the development, implementation, deployment,
and troubleshooting of Platform based software on targeted phone
platforms. The position involves solving highly complex Java
application technical issues through extensive debugging, research and
investigation, and close interaction with customers. (for a more
detailed description, please let me know). - Please note that 50% of
travel is required for this opportunity.
EXPERIENCE / SKILLS:
Important Note: this position is focused around the development of CDC
(Xlet) applications. J2SE development using Swing is relevant
experience for this position, as is experience developing J2ME CLDC
(MIDlet) applications. However, experience and/or knowledge relating to
J2EE and Enterprise Java is not a relevant nor useful skill set for
this position.
We are looking for a hands-on team player that is driven, willing to
take initiative, responsible, eager to learn and seek technical
challenges, and who has solid analytical and communication skills.
The flexibility to travel to customer sites and offices worldwide is
also a key requirement of this position.
This is a highly-technical role and has several key technical
requirements:
- Minimum of 3 years of application development experience with Java 2
Standard Edition and Swing
- Familiarity with the JCP and working knowledge of current J2ME APIs
- Minimum of 5 years of complex software technology consulting and
software development
- Hands-on experience of Java application development with popular
IDEs, as well as the command line, under both Windows and Linux
- Familiarity with HTTP TCP/IP network configuration and operations
