Link to local files

Hi,
I've a problem with local files:
Links to most of the connected shares work:

<a href="file:///k:/myportrait.gif">my portrait</a>

but links to the c-drive do not work, without any message:

<a href="file:///c:/myportrait.gif">my portrait</a>

(the link copied into the address filed works)

I use IE 6.0 SP 2

Anyone any idea ?
