Major NEWBIE question - be gentle

Hi,

I have never devloped an app for a mobile before and would like to.

My question is, where do you start? I mean after i make my initial hello
world say, how do i test it on a mobile?

Any help on basic getting started tutorials would be great, as i said above
though, just the 'how to test it on a mobile' bit i would like to know. And
what needs to be considered that is fundamentally different to writing a
normal app?
