Mobile java query | Hello all.

Hello java geekz..

The power of java in any mobile platform is amazing .Though I am
not yet a developer
I would like to know if there is any .jar software to
1.) detect the strength of signals recieved from transreciever
stations.
2.) Number of towers it detects and their codes .
3.) Dislplay the last known good signal.
4.) Display the noise due to other radio waves or able to detect
other waves ( mobile built with FM )

If there is or you can produce it I have an excellent idea of
developing a mobile positioning software and developing a client based
LBS.

Any suggestions or ideas are welcome .

The number of mobile devices having a Java VM is sure
amazing but Java is usually really crippled on mobile
devices. Most devices are still running JME (Java Micro
Edition) and don't have many amazing APIs.

Why reinvent the wheel? Application needing geolocation
use a location API (say JSR-179).

Note that at this point only a few mobile devices provide this API.

You're however much more likely to find this API than an
(proprietary) API allowing you to access all the infos
you mentionned (number of towers detected, signal strength etc.).
