perl memory management - does @array = () free the memory?

Discussion in 'Perl Misc' started by Matt Oefinger, Jun 25, 2003.

  1. I have a sizable array that I want to clear (i.e. free the memory for
    other use).
Will @array = () alert a garbage collector in Perl to mark the memory
as unallocated or do I need to perform this tast manually?

    Thanks
    Matt
