public variables gone?

In my old aspnet app, I had global.vb file in which I kept common code and
session variables (connections, connection strings, user info, etc). Since
I 'upgraded' to vwd, i get complaints from vwd that the public variables
aren't declared in other pages. Now why wouldn't a page be able to see a
variable declared as public in a code module? Hopefully I'm missing
something simple. Thanks

Are all such files in the App_Code folder?
