Return smallest key from std::map?

Is there no way to return the smallest key from a std::map. I have
looked at:

But could not find anything that returns min. key.

Assuming the map is not empty you can use

my_map.begin()->first

since maps are sorted by key.

my_map.begin()->first

Provided that you do not use any custom comparison in which case it
might also be the last in which case you can use

my_map.rbegin()->first; // notice the 'r'

Depends what you mean by smallest key
If the map is sorted by key's "<" operator, then return the_map-
