transaction without database

hi, i have a clientHandler method which updates a vector. i want this method
to be transactional. after reading much it seems that using javax.ejb.*; i
must involve a database althougth i have been told not. i want to make the
class containing the vector the updateable source or context. can this be
done. without using a database table to represent the data i presently have
in the vector. thanks. mark
