GIS Business Application Programmer Job Description:

The position is located in Arlington, Virginia. This is a long term
contract (through 2013) with the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency.
APPLICANTS MUST BE US CITIZENS OR US PERMANENT RESIDENTS. NO SECURITY
CLEARANCE REQUIRED.

Specific Description: GIS Programmer Candidate will serve as a senior
level GIS web application developer to customize, maintain and enhance
a variety of internet geoservices for environmental monitoring and
protection applications He/She will significantly contribute to
documentation and analysis of requirements and the architectural design
of new web-based interactive mapping/reporting applications. The
candidate will use interactive mapping servers, OGC compliant internet
protocols, markup languages, and scripts to implement the internet
geoservices applications.

Education:
Bachelors Degree in Geography, Earth Sciences, Engineering, Computer
Science or closely related field

Required Skills:
-Minimum of 5 years experience in designing and developing web-based
GIS applications
-In-depth knowledge of ArcIMS and fluency with ArcXML, ASP,
Java-scripts, VB-scripts, XML and HTML to customize and deploy
web-based interactive mapping/reporting applications.
-Experience with IIS server configuration
-Experience with ArcObjects and knowledge of ArcGIS server
-Knowledge of serving ArcSDE spatial data through web-based
applications
-Knowledge of Oracle database and SQL query development and
optimization for web-based applications.
-Knowledge of software development lifecycle
-Ability to perform in a multi-tasking, team-oriented environment
-Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Desired Skills:
-Master Degree with 7+ years of experience in developing GIS web-based
applications
-Experience with development and use of web services within .NET.
-Knowledge of J2EE Technologies, including Servlets and JSPs
-Knowledge of Oracle 9iAS and 10G databases

errors, prepares operating instructions, compiles documentation of
program development, and analyzes system capabilities to resolve
questions of program intent, output requirements, input data
acquisition, programming techniques, and controls.
