Using JAIN SIP

I need to build a simple server that sets up an SIP session with a
user, collects audio data from the user, relays this data to a
recognizer, and then returns prerecorded audio files according to
processing. I have recently been researching the uses of JAIN SIP, and
think this might be the way to go. However, I am a little unclear: do I
need to use a lower level API in order to establish the actual
connection?
