Is this an appropriate place for Visual C++ questions ?
If so, I was looking for links to VC++ tutorials, notes etc.

The official Microsoft newsgroups for VC++ are microsoft.public.vc.*. These
are probably the best places to ask.
If your news server does not have them, you can get them on
news.microsoft.com.
