Modify java interpreter?

There are some applets that I execute from the web which I want you to
modify how they are displayed on my computer. The changes involve making
fonts larger or creating hot keys that will allow me to input certain text
strings into certain dialog boxes. This might mean I would modify my local
java interpreter. Am I right? If I modify the interpreter, will it still
allow me to execute applets from the web? Another question is how do I
modify this (jre?).

It turns out that this is particularly easy. I just flick my wrist like so
and the magic wand does the rest!

This exercise seems out of context--it seems it should be talking about
HTML, Javascript or applet parameters or possibly applet source code. I
have met no problems in the past 10 or so years for which modifying the jre
was a good idea. You should talk to your teacher about what you're trying
to accomplish or otherwise explain why you've said "I want you to..." rather
than "I'm trying to write a program that does .... but I don't
understand...."
