Problem with Intellisense in VWD 2008 Express

I'm trying to develop a ASP.NET website with SQL Server Express, but I find it impossible to activate Intellisense on the System.Data and System.Data.SqlClient namespaces. When I type 'Sytem.' a list pops up but System.Data is NOT in that list, for some reason. When I add it manually, the program compiles and works but I find it very distressing having to work without Intellisense.

How can I fix this so that Intellisense works again for System.Data and System.Data.SqlClient?
