Viewstate Error for only one client

Hi,

I was wondering if any one can shed some light on this.

One user of my site gets the following error: "The viewstate is invalid
for this page and might be corrupted."

I have read pretty much every article on this and have tried every
solution!

I am wondering if it is something to do with their machine as it is
only happening for one user?

They are using
Windows 98
Windows Explorer 6.0.2800.1106 ic

Any suggestions as to what could be wrong?

Thanks in advance

Caro

check to see if they are using a proxy server (firewall). the firewall can
cause two problems

1) truncate the viewstate because its to long.
2) some proxys validate the html data, and will strip the viewstate because
the the name ms gives it ("__viewstate") is not a legal name (w3c standard
says element names cannot start with an underscore).

It seems possible that this is the problem?

They are using Norton Internet Security Professional 2004 - I have
found some other references to problems with .net when installing
various versions of Norton internet security professional but nothing
related to viewstate.

I have tries the trouble shooting pages on their site but they were no
help.

I was wondering if you knew any way I can fix this...? (would setting
this as a trusted site in the firewall help?)

Any suggestions much appreciated!

Thanks very much
Caro
