Warning after Install of Java 6 Update 10

I installed Java 6 Update 10 to enable Java in Chrome. This works (not
immediately however).

Now I get a warning saying that my application wanted an older Java
version, which might not be up to date and a security risk (in German.
"Die Anwendung benötigt eine frühere Java Version"). I get this
warning at each and every applet I load.

Can this be switched off? Will I have to recompile all applets? Will I
have to use another HTML plugin?

I forgot that it happens in Firefox too.

I uninstalled all Java and wiped the \Java dirs. Then installed JDK
1.6.0_10. I then freshly installed Chrome, and it worked fine.
