Whitespace in button

Hi All,

I wonder how I can get rid off the increasing whitespace on buttons when the
text gets bigger.
It looks like the whitespace (left and right side) on the button increases
whith the number of characters shown.
I would like to have a fixed margin.
how do I achieve that
I need to put variable text in the button (e.g username) but the button gets
to big with long names
