Active HDL versus VHDL '93

Hi,
can anyone tell me what the difference is between Aldec Active HDL and VHDL
?

AFAIK the first is a program (that also understands VHDL), the second is
a hardware description language.

There was Active-VHDL from Aldec first. Then Verilog has been added and
the name of tool has been changed to Active-HDL back in 1999.
Now it supports VHDL, Verilog, SystemVerilog and SystemC.

Aldec Active HDL is a software tool.

VHDL is a language.
