[ANN] Weft QDA - (Wx)Ruby application for qualitative data analysis

A

Alex Fenton

Hi

First release of Weft QDA, a software tool written in Ruby for
qualitative data analysis. It's intended for use in various kinds of
social science research to analyse unstructured textual data, such as
interview transcripts, newspaper articles, ethnographic fieldnotes etc.

Windows installer & source at
http://www.pressure.to/qda/

It's written in WxRuby, so it's (in theory) cross-platform. However It's
currently only extensively tested on windows, and there's one or two
irritating known bugs on Linux. Haven't tried on OS X, but very happy to
help anyone try :)

Also - thanks very much to the WxRuby people both for the port (which is
very usable, well-featured and good to work with) and the quality of the
support on the mailing list. Thanks also to SQLite porters (again, great
to use), and developers of the 1.8 core & standard libraries, which made
everything much easier.

Comments, bug reports welcome

cheers
alex
