Auto Declare a Web User control (in the code behind) on Drop

Anyone remember how to make a Web User Control automatically declare itself
in the code behind file when dragged to an aspx page?

Today I always go into the code behind and manually write: Proteced myctrl1
as myctrl

I read about it once, but I can't find the documentation for it anymore.
