Best and cheap database

If i have 10 computers in LAN and if i want to make application which will
grant access to database from each workstation, which database would be the
"best" (and of course cheapes
or free one ).

I use VC++ .NET and MySql on localhost + Apache2

If his is the MySQL, how to us it in this part ?.

Is there a C++ language quesiton in all of that? I am not seeing it...

1. "best" is subjective.
2. which database you use has nothing to do with c++
3. Try a newsgroup that deals with databases or STFW
