CSS drop down menu - how to centre it?

Because the OP was not using "display: table: (which does not work in
IE) but *was* using a TABLE element and in a very invalid manner. His
markup was:

<table align="center">
<div id="navbar">
<ul>
<li><a href="home.shtml">Home</a></li>

Oh dear. I didn't see that, or his page changed since the last time I
looked at it.
