Download instead of open file

Hi,

I'm pretty new to javascript and haven't been able to find the solution to
this. I have built a web site for my team, and linked to an excel workbook
that has several special functions that do not work when opened from the web
server. I would like to set up the link to this work book so it initiates a
save operation instead of opening the workbook directly. Is this possible?

Thanks in advance,

John

Also you can send Content-Type:application/octet-stream header from
your server.

The simpliest way would be to zip your files (archives will be proposed
to Save As).

No, you cannot do it client side.

It is possible to show the download dialog box..
Follow the steps
Open Windows Explorer
Go to Tools -> Folder Options -> File Types (tab)..
Select XLS. type
Click on advanced. Check 'Confirm open after download..

Sorry, no "Windows" or "Explorer" here.
Go to Tools -> Folder Options -> File Types (tab)..

Sorry, no "Folder Options" in the "Tools" menu here.

Sorry, it is just not there. And if I change to
Windows, the setting does not have any effect.

Must be because I am not using Internet Exploder.

Yes, we are all aware that you use a third rate browser on a third rate OS.

Maybe you should learn how to use Windows, then you can complain about it.

"You, sir, are a troll, and just barely above VK in the amount of value
that you add to this newsgroup. If the word "anti-social" describes
anyone here, it would be you. Maybe you don't interact with humans in
the real world, but if you behave in real life as you do here, I don't
imagine that many people would find your company welcome. You are
judgemental, insulting, demeaning, elitist, anal retentive, combative,
and unpleasant." - Matt Kruse in comp.lang.javascript

I think that could become a common place reply to Thomas. Hmmmm
