dynamic column totals datagrid

I have a datagrid in which I have editable amounts. What I want to do is at
the footer, update the total amount without posting back. In short I am
looking at how to reference the footer of a datagrid through javascript to
get my totals. I have javascript already that edits the rows and references
other columns within the row that the focus is on, but I do not know how to
reference the footer.

I have a compute sum function during the itembound firing that gives me the
totals in the datagrid, now I want to update the totals on the fly without
having to repost my data.

Any help out there on this?
