Gateway -> Mail

S

All,

is it just me or is the gateway -> mail broken? I did not seem to
receive postings for about 5 hours now.

Kind regards

robert

PS: It's been quite a long while since we saw gateway emails so this
means: the gateway is better now than in earlier days. Well done!

mailing list processor itself.

This message was posted from Usenet, right? I see it there:

http://groups.google.com/group/comp.lang.ruby/msg/6c87cb1b32a0efbf?dmode=source

I also received it in my inbox (I'm on the mailing list). The headers
from the message I received show it was gated:

Newsgroups: comp.lang.ruby

X-Rubymirror: yes

Here's the message in the mailing list archives:

http://blade.nagaokaut.ac.jp/cgi-bin/scat.rb/ruby/ruby-talk/303191

I'm not seeing any problems. Please point me to specific messages
that weren't gated if I am missing something.

In the past, I would experience periods where Ruby Talk would seem to
shut me off for periods (felt like about 24 hours though I never
measured). I wouldn't receive any messages from the list during that
time, but my email was clearly working. Then it would just magically
begin working again.

Odd as this sounds, it was a semi-regular occurrence for me in the
past. I bet it happened once every few months.

I haven't seen this issue in quite some time now though. I have no
idea what changed, but it seems to be for the better.

Yes, that's correct.

Correct. Timestamps are pretty close together:

Wed, 28 May 2008 07:12:09 -0700 (PDT) => 14:12 UTC
Mail: Wed, 28 May 2008 23:16:33 +0900 => 14:16 UTC

Hm, as far as I can see this leaves these explanations:

1. the mailing list processor had delay between reception and delivery

2. delivery at my mail server or some intermediate MTA was delayed
Please point me to specific messages
that weren't gated if I am missing something.

At the moment I can't. Messages were probably only delayed for a few
hours. Thanks for checking!

Kind regards

Hi James,

I have been experiencing many problems since last week. There are
periods where I don't receive any email at all. There are many emails
I am not receiving even after a while: for example all emails from
Philip Gawlowski, the email from shortcutter at googlemail.com you are
answering to, or for example an email from Eleanor McHugh in the
thread The Duck's backside. I've realized this because I see other
people quoting them while I haven't seen the original message.

Any idea?

Thanks,

Jesus.

I used to find Philip's messages in my spam folder, I guess because he
frequently
responded to messages I marked as spam. I unmarked his messages manually an=

Thanks Jano. That was it with regards to Philip and Google's Spam filter.
In my case I didn't mark any email as spam, it was Google itself...

Sorry for the delayed response. I was on vacation.

Hi James,

I have been experiencing many problems since last week.

Remember folks, I only control the gateway. If you find messages not =20=

being gated, please direct me to those and I will try to help. All =20
other queries should be directed to the list admins.
