People prefer {}-initialization, the uniform
initialization syntax and semantics. For example

C++ 2011 gives people good reasons to prefer it, but I would not say
that it is the current preference (at least I don't see it at all
often). I should certainly have mentioned it, though, so thanks for
bringing it up.
