Hi,
I need to create a few relatively simple reports in an asp.net app. I
thought that ReportViewer control would be ideal with all its feature and -
supposedly - ease of use. I read on msdn that browsers like FireFox,
Safari, and Netscape supported the control, except for some features like
printing, zooming, etc. So I went ahead and created the first report - not
a big deal. The report ran fine in IE8. I then decided to test the report
in Safari, FireFox, and Chrome. I was surprised that neither of the
browsers displayed them properly. The main problem was the width which
seemed to be ignored. I had the width set to 722px but all non-IE browsers
displayed the control in about less than the half of the requested width.
The output from the browsers was quite consistent. Setting the width to
100% did not make any difference.
MSDN docs refer to older versions of the non-IE browsers.
Does anyone know if this is a 'known' thing? Is there anything that I can
do to make the report viewer to work in non-IE browsers?
If not, what other reporting choices are there in VS2008 + SQLExpress?
Thanks,
Bogdan
