hi
I am looking for a java applet for checking my email
on the road.like in internet cafes and stuff.
but i need a specific type. what i would like is a java applet
that works with older internet explorer compatible versions of java..
you load up the web page the applet starts. It asks you to enter in your
pop3 server
address your login and password for the server then connects and lists mail
on your server
you can click on the message to read its contencts.. but i dont want the
email messages downloaded
to anywhere apart from the programs memory when you exit the program the
email isnt stored anywhere on
the computer. your just reading it live from the server(like the way you can
using telnet). i also dont want setting like
loging server and password to be stored anywhere, when you exit the prgram
their gone to use the prgram again
youd have to reenter them.. This way i could check my email on the web
without any pages benig stored in history
or tempory internet files or anything like that.. It is just a live program
that doesnt save anything and could be used by anyone
who wants to use it. It would be nice if you could delete messages from the
server too and reply to messages(prompting
you for your smtp information of course).
does such a prgram exist , maybe soemone else has a written a program like
that before?
if not how hard would it be to write one in java. i have no experience in
java but i know
c++ and other languages so it wouldnt be imposible to learn i hope.
why java?
because as i think i understand it, java applets are actual stand alone
programs
that live in your browser, they dont just generate html pages the way php
and cgi does.
so any information in that prgram will be gone once the prgram is exited
hopefuly.
thanks
