META: relax topicality to squeeze the spam?

In defense of posts of the form:
"why is [crazy code] allowed?"

It's at least more topical than
"cheapness wholesales NFL Jerseys=20USD Mlb jerseys=20USD Nhl
Jerseys=32USD Free Shipping Paypal "

imho

"Better than spam" is not a high recommendation.

But questions about why [crazy code] is allowed aren't off-topic
anyway, so I'm not sure what your point is.

My understand is that it's not possible (or at least that GG doesn't
provide such a feature).

Topicality has already been relaxed. Who needs the approval of
a bunch of hypocritical and logically challenged Net Nannies?
You're in charge of your own mind. Post accordingly.

Agreed. I wasn't really proposing anything.
Just lamenting the s/n ratio on my screen,
and feeling chatty.
Thank you for the indulgence.

How is relaxing anything going to prevent SPAM?

Dunno about you, but I'm not seeing any posts like that.

Sure - just filter out posts where the Path header contains "google".

There are supposedly browser plug-ins to provide some filtering
capability. I have no personal experience with anything like that. A
better solution is to move to a "real" news service and reader if at
all possible. Sometimes it's not.

I haven't seen any spam in a long time here, I believe mostly due to my
news service's actions (although I do have a large set of filters
created in the early days of the spam flood).

Greetings.

^Message-ID: <.*\.googlegroups\.com>

That should do it for any killfile which uses regular expressions.

Thanks to all for addressing my stupidity without actually
calling me stupid (although in this case I deserve it).
Somehow, I was viewing the threads sorted by first post;
so responses were not pushing the spam off the page.
And the killfile question obviously should be directed
to google itself, not you fine people.
I'm sure I have several newsreaders already intalled,
but the convenience of having all of my internet reading
in tabs of one program has delayed my exploration.
