Hi Arne,

You can use jul in an applet, but only with anonymous logger
and a few other restrictions.

Would one of those restrictions be "only able to set the log-level higher
but not lower than what was in effect for the root-logger when you got it"?

Looks like INFO (or there abouts) is as low as it will go :-(

I think that is the case.

But do you really need more levels than those available?

No, but some reasonable documentation that limits the trial-and-error
iterations for something as functionally peripheral as logging would be nice
