New Very Serious Firefox Security Problem

I suggest that everyone using a recent version of Firefox read
http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=315656&sid=b1db62861b8da29535c43e9c5c527c3b
at once. This new security problem was reported Friday and may be
extremely serious for certain Firefox versions. There is a patch, but
it will take a little time to release. Instructions are given on how to
avoid the problem until the patch is ready to download.

An xpi (for all Firefox versions and Seamonkey) has been made to apply
this workaround for you:

http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/1.0.6/patches/307259.xpi

It does not work in Linux yet so Linux users should make the manual
change as described below.

Right-click the link to download the file to your desktop, then drag it
into an open Firefox window to install it. All users should do this.
Should you ever want to uninstall this temporary fix, go to the folder
Firefox is installed to, go into the defauts/pref subfolder, and delete
the file 'bug307259.js'. Uninstalling it is not recommended.

....and when the XPI file doesn't do anything (didn't put anything into the
pref folder)... then what?

Never mind... tried again and it worked as advertised.
