Luigi, are you not taking me seriously? Do you really want me to
show you the whole mad essay?

No, I do not trust Google.
Luigi, have you ever read Alice in Wonderland? Would you like to
go there with me?

Not the English version. Perhaps I have read the Italian version, I have
probably seen the film and perhaps listened to some record,
so, well, more or less, I know what happened to Alice...
Would you like to
go there with me?
It depends on whom you are and what you mean by that....
For example,
I am against drugs,
but I have nothing against sex as long as it is legal,
(whether sex is legal depends for example on the age of both partners and on
what the local laws say about it)
I like the person I have sex with
(which is impossible to say about you when I have never met you)
and
I do not have another stable relationship at the same time.
I like walking in the wood.

Just meant this old chap: when I read your responses, I am
reminded sometimes of the crazy logic of the story. That's all. I
think partly all this is a serious language barrier.

"Do you want me to show you my name in full?" normally would not
get "I do not trust Google" as a response. Normally. In English.
But it seems that when a visting martian says things to an
Italian earthling in Sweden, in English, all the normal rules go
by the board.

If you had written your name and surname for a long time ago I would have
probably answered in a different way.....

Two things about this:

First, I get the same Alice in Wonderland feeling when you reply
to earthlings who are lucky enough to have a real name.

Second, I am flabbergasted that the lack of a name that satisfies
you causes you to post articles that I have to change from

http://members.optushome.com.au/droovies/pics/luigiPost2.png

to

Western (Mac OS Roman) on my newsreader.

This is for the majority of your posts in the last few months.
The default is Simplified Chinese as I get them. Only from you.

Don't get me wrong, I like this. I am just pointing out the
quixotic nature of everything to do with your posts that I find
so fascinating and reminds me of A in W. The idea that all this
would have been different had I given you a normal earthling name
is particularly thrilling and has cheered my morning up.

Yes, but we are communicating on the web. Some
may feel that there is already enough distance on the web between a sender
and a receiver
compared with the "real" life that they want to reduce it
and feel that the communication is working somehow.

Well, I was referring to the fact that you are not using your real name
and not talking about whether I like your name or not.....

Good for you. I have not had my best day, so far..

Yes, but we are communicating on the web.

You are not communicating on the web; you are communicating on
Usenet (which predates the web by about a decade), via the
Internet.

An A_in_W reply. If people generally, name or no name, get taken
down into Wonderland by you, what has the reality of names got to
do with it?

What has names got to do with the way your posts appear on my
newsreader? In Wonderland, can changing or revealing one's name
suddenly change the world outside? This indeed is an interesting
theory Luigi. Some people have had the idea that the world is
really not outside the minds of beings. That what thinkers think
determines the structure and contents of the world. But you go
further! You are putting forth the idea that to be is to have a
name. To have a name, or change a name or say a name is to change
the world. This is a fascinating thought and I am going to
meditate on it some more.

No, there is a difference between to be and the way other people perceive
that we are....

I mean that you do not seem to reply to people with no real names
any differently to the way you reply to people with names.

But relax, Luigi, I am only having a little fun with you. Don't
you dare change. Please do not snip or edit posts or use
regular-guy/gal newsreading settings... or anything like anyone
else anywhere.

No, I do not. But if someone does not want to write his or her name he only
has an identity on the usenet.
Is that clear?

Well, this is not literally true. He or she might use the name
elsewhere as well. Whenever I am arrested, either by local police
or by foreign intelligence services, I use the same name. True, I
get badly beaten and tortured for it. But then, this just means
my identity is forged in pain and suffering and my reputation
grows in my own estimation.

because she's an ALIEN.

Aliens can also have a residence permit, cannot they?
I had trouble with this one. In Australia, the permit is a green
card. Officials cannot easily see it to the background of my
Martian colour. Hence the frequency with which I am detained.

I assume therefore that this is you against a green background<g>
