Has anyone noticed that status no longer works in IE after updating to SP2?
I have several window popups that are supposed to be status bar free but
all show the status bar now.

Yes, thankfully so.

As it should be. If people had not abused it and kept removing basic
functionality of the browser, MS wouldn't have had to stop it from being
removed. KWIM?

Changes to Functionality in Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2
Part 5: Enhanced Browsing Security
Internet Explorer Using Feature Control Registry Settings with Security
Zone Settings

"if the feature is turned on for Windows Restrictions, this feature:
- Forces the status bar to be present in script-initiated Internet
Explorer windows with the title bar [those that were created with
window.open()].
- Constrains the size and positioning of script-initiated Internet
Explorer windows that have title and status bars to ensure that the
title bar and the status bar in these windows is always visible to the
user."

Why do you want or would you want to remove the toolbar of the browser
window of users by which they can compare urls with the one in the
location bar? One way to prevent successful url spoofing hack is to
compare the info with the one in the status bar.
Why do you want or would you want to remove the toolbar which displays
security connection (SSL padlock icon) anyway?
