Tomcat Sun One Install Issue

Hello all,

I'm having a problem getting Tomcat to run within Sun One Studio CE. I've
installed it and when I try to start it up it says: "Port 8080 on
host:localhost is already in use". Now I've checked my services (I'm using
WinXP) and no server at all is running, so port 8080 should be free. I've
tried reinstalling, but hasn't worked. IDE Integration Mode is also set to
Minimum. Is there something I've done incorrectly? Is there someway to fix
this? Thanks in advance for any help.

I'm not really au fait with Windows terminology, but I don't think it has to
be a "service" to have a port open, does it?

Is there a netstat command in Windows, or some equivalent, which can tell
you which ports are in use? Something else must be using the port, unless
another instance of Tomcat is already running.

Hi Nigel,

Thank you for your assistance. Yes there is a netstat on Win. I ran it, but
8080 is not in use. No other instance of Tomcat is running either (at least
what windows is letting on to!).

I think it's time I converted to Linux!
