I once posted a link to the free version of this program. The link is
now redirected to
<http://www-128.ibm.com/developerworks/rational/products/rad/>.

Visual Age for Java was superceded many years ago and probably won't
work with the latest Java SDK. If you really want it I probably have
it on a backup somewhere and can put it on an FTP site. Send an email
to david at segall dot net. I also still have the book so if you
happen to be in Australia I will gladly send it COD.

If you want something more up to date I have a list of them at
<http://ide.profectus.com.au>.

IBM discontinued it many years (five?) ago. Parts of it ended up as the
base for Eclipse.

If you work with a book or some other resource which suggests to use
VAJ, consider dropping it. The book is very likely outdated and based on
a rather old Java version, so you might not have much fun with it.

If you really can't live with the command-line tools in the JDK, then
consider an up-to-date IDE like NetBeans www.netbeans.org, or Eclipse
www.eclipse.org. But there is nothing wrong with using the command line
tools.
