formatting columns in datagrid using XSD file

I wish to format my datagrid using a database connection and dataset at
runtime. I have an XSD file containing the columns that will be added to my
grid. Since I do not have a dataset control on the form itself, (rather I
use a dataset object in code), the property builder will not allow me to
format my columns.

Is there a way to use property builder on my datagrid to format the columns
(based on the columns in my XSD file).
