Java and Linix errors

Jack Frillman

I just upgraded my Linux system to Fedora Core 2 from RH 7.3. On the RH 7.3
system I had jdk1.3.1_02 installed and working. After I upgraded to
Fedore Core 2
the java broke with runtime link errors. After some investigation I
installed
the RH compatability library compat-libstdc++-6.2-2.9.0.16.i386.rpm. That
fixed the errors I was getting now I get the following error:

[loca]:(235)%javac
Error occurred during initialization of VM
Unable to load native library:
/opt/java/jdk1.3.1_02/jre/lib/i386/libjava.so: symbol __libc_wait,
version GLIBC_2.0 not defined in file libc.so.6 with link time reference
[loca]:(236)%

Now what am I missing?
If get the latest version JDK and install it will it work?

Thanks.

So you're saying that Jack did not upgrade his Linux system? How do you
know this, Paul?

"The Stalker". Too bad you don't have any productive use for your time. It
appears nature passed you over in the great genetic sweepstakes. Too bad.
