Set default value of templated field in details view control

I am trying to set the default value (upon insert only and then display
read-only after that) of a databound label (I made the column into a template
field) in Visual Studio 2005 to My.User.Name... unfortunately, I can not
figure out how to access the object to set it from code nor have I been able
to successfully get around the 'parameter' field with doesn't like an
evaluate expression in the 'default=""' value.
Please help...
